What is Versorium ?
The versorium (Latin word for “turn around”) was the first electroscope, the first instrument that could detect the presence of static electric charge. It was invented in 1600 by William Gilbert, the physician to Queen Elizabeth I. The versorium clearly distinguished magnetism from static electricity and established the term “electricity”. It is a suitable device for explaining important concepts of electricity.
We are an organization that focuses on functional materials that can dissipate the static electricity detected by the versorium invented by Dr. Gilbert. By realizing a world without static electricity, we aim to unleash the inherent physical abilities and performance of people and things, and guide the world towards this goal.
